Diwali craft : Akash Butti

Image
Hey guys, Happy Deepavali...! Deepavali or Diwali is the festival of lights. It symbolises victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance & Good over Evil. It is one of the most celebrated festival in India. And one of my favorites too!! We light Diyas or oil lamps and burst crackers to show the victory of light. And we eat lots of sweets! I've made a sky lantern (or Akash Butti as we call them). Here it is! Unfortunately, I didn't click photos of the process of making this. But I'll attach the video I watched to make it. Legend has it, that our ancestors and Gods visit us during these days. So, we hang these lights in the sky for them to find their way.  There are many other rituals that are equally as interesting and delightful. There are different stories behind them too. Do check them out...! Click here to watch the YouTube video That's all for now! See you again, Namaskar!!

Mewar Art

Image
Mewar art or Rajasthani art is one of my favorite art styles. This is a Traditional art style. It is one of the most important schools of Indian miniature paintings of the 17th and 18th centuries. It was developed in Hindu principality of Mewar(in Rajasthan State). It is very similar to Mughal art style and is often confused. I really love the beautiful features of the Men and Women depicted here, mostly from the royal families. The colors are also bright and very lovely. I tried to draw a Queen in this style. I used a picture of Rani Padmini as reference. click here to see the  Reference . That's all for now! Bye! ~~~~~~~Chinmayee. S

Kalighat Art

Image
Kalighat Paintings or Kalighat Pat was an art form popular during the 19th century, in Bengal. This art style was mostly seen in the vicinity of the Kalighat Kali temples. These group of artists are called 'Patuas' A very famous artist in this style is Jamini Roy. I have taken his art work as reference here. The things I love about this art form are the simple shapes, bold colors, and the perfect line art. Here is one more drawing in this style:   This art style might look simple, but it is not! Well, that's all! Thanks for stopping by! Bye!
